The French authorities said 365 people died of COVID-19 over the previous 24 hours, taking the national total of those who have died in hospital to 1,696. 'Unbearable' loss


• The United States now leads the world with more than 85,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases, overtaking China and Italy. There have been more than 1,200 deaths in the U.S.
• The U.S. Senate has passed a record $2 trillion stimulus package 96-0. The House is expected to vote on it Friday.
• Unemployment claims in United States skyrocketed to a record 3.283 million.
• Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said that "we may well be in a recession."
• In Rome, Pope Francis tested negative for the virus after an employee in his residence was reportedly hospitalized with COVID-19.

Ralph Lauren to make face masks and medical gowns

    Half a million cases

    The coronavirus pandemic passed another grim milestone Thursday. According to data from Johns Hopkins University, there now have been more than 500,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide, with more than 22,000 deaths attributed to the novel virus.
